The Kappé story begins on 16 January 1950, when Mr F.A.J. Kappé submits an application to the local airport authority to open a barber's shop.

1960's
Construction of the new Schiphol starts in 1963 and is officially opened on 28 April, 1967 by Queen Juliana. Saying farewell to the Europa Hall is both festive and emotional.

1970's
Rapid growth in the late sixties means it's time to enlarge Schiphol's Central terminal. Work started in 1971 almost doubles the space available.

1980's
Frans Kappé's original ideas are adopted by Bas Parson. On 10 April 1983 a long-cherished wish is fullfilled: a seperate cosmetics shop. A unique passenger service in those days.

1990's
Schiphol and Kappé continue to grow. But in the early nineties things are not looking too rosy. For a time the Gulf War paralyses the whole world. Only those who have to travel do so.

The new millennium has started without serious computer failures. Experts discuss whether this is in spite of or thanks to the expensive precautionary measures .
