The first years of the millennium are characterised by renewal, crisis and a search for securities. 2002, Renewal of the monetary unit because of the introduction of the Euro. Life seems to become more expensive, an economical crisis is about to start. Investors are loosing millions, consumers have to live more economic, since long time ago people are dismissed. Still after the attack on September 11th, there is a big fear for terrorism.

Kappé also passes the turn of the year well and enters the new period under new management. New shops are opened: in 2000 the 600 m˛ Perfumes and Cosmetics shop in Centraal. In 2001 Schiphol Plaza is extend with Perfumes and Colors and in 2002 a temporary shop on the B/C Pier is opened. In the same year retail activities are extended with the take-over of World of Wings, the shop with aviation models.
Plans for new shops in the to be renovated Schengen Terminal are getting more definite. The year 2002 is closed positively by welcoming the 40 millionth passenger and Kappé breaks a record with a turnover of one million guilders in one day.
In 2003 Kappé appoints a new Managing Director: Gemma Whelehan. She gets the challenging task to let Kappé excel even more. Positive news about the accessibility of Schiphol: with opening the Polderbaan, more airplanes can reach the Airport!
