Natural, natural, natural. The nineties in a nutshell. Wood combined with dully gleaming metals for interiors. Cotton clothing in cream and earth tones for the body. Recycling is now part of the daily ritual. Dior sums up the spirit of the times perfectly and launches Dune. Calvin Klein's CK One becomes a great commercial success. Finally there is realization that Europe is going to be united around the turn of the century. With everything that means to the Eurocitizen in general and Kappé in particular.
1990 - Nelson Mandela visits Holland
1992 - El Al plane crashes into Amsterdam's Bijlmermeer
1993 - Cabinet approves expansion of Schiphol & 5th runway
1993 - Kappé Distribution is founded
1995 - Schiphol Plaza is opened
1997 - Opening of the first combination shop with KLM

Schiphol and Kappé continue to grow. But in the early nineties things are not looking too rosy. For a time the Gulf War paralyses the whole world. Only those who have to travel do so. By mid 1991 the crisis has passed and, in September, Kappé breaks a number of records. A clear sign that business is back to the desired level. In October readers of the magazine Business Traveler vote Amsterdam Airport Shopping
Centre the best in the world for the fourth consecutive time. In 1993 the number of shops rises for 3 to 7! Kappé Distribution is founded on 6 June 1993. In 1994 Kappé takes over a duty-free shop at the military base of Budel. European unification is approaching rapidly. It will have major consequences for the duty-free shopping center, and Jacques Parson is working hard on plans for the company's future.
1995 gets off to a tremendous start with a celebration of the firm's 45 years in business and the delivery of the shops in the Schiphol Plaza. These new shops became operational at 7 o'clock in the morning on 1 May. Two wonderful shops: Etos and Eyes Paradise.
