Reagan & Gorbatsjov: names inextricably linked with the eighties. As are words like materialism & megastar. A decade that could be summed up as cool & business like. Women's fashions are far more alarming: shoulder padding and strange hairstyles. And to complete the look lashings of make-up. In the eighties everything must be on a large scale. The music world has it's own megastars: Micheal Jackson, Prince and Madonna. And of course the megamove in 1987: Kappé moves into new offices in De Hoek. |

Frans Kappe's original ideas are adopted by Bas Parson. On 10 April 1983 a long-cherished wish is fullfilled: a seperate cosmetics shop. A unique passenger service in those days. No other airport anywhere in the world has a shop selling such a wide range of cosmetics. And it's not just women who turn up at the cosmetics counter; the male of the species comes in search of a little pampering too.

On 12 May 1987 the new office at De Hoeksteen is officially opened. On 1 July 1987 Bas Parson steps down as managing director and the firm is converted into a limited company with Jacques Parson as general manager. On 6 January 1988 Cees Kappé dies after a long illness. For many Cees was an old friend, for others he was the face of a shopping centre. He always knew how to make people feel |
at home at Kappé. The thoroughly renovated Shopping Centre is re-opened on 2 May 1988. A visit to Dior in 1988 is not only instructive, but a huge party. By 1989 Kappé employs 148 full-time staff. |
